Leading MTEC SmartZone in a direction of job creation and economic development is CEO Marilyn Clark.

MTEC works with the community and Michigan Technological University to turn their ideas into successful businesses with our entrepreneurial coaching program, SmartStart. MTEC also assists incubator clients with renting space, and helps businesses in the community access Michigan Business Funds. A large part of Marilyn’s role is to collaborate with key stakeholders, the State of Michigan, Michigan Tech and the business community. She is also responsible for creating a financially sustainable future for MTEC and building and attracting talent that supports our business ecosystem.
Marilyn is a graduate of Michigan Tech where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and a Masters in Business Administration. Marilyn also taught Human Resources at Michigan Tech. Prior to becoming MTEC SmartZone CEO, Marilyn served as: Assistant Professor of Management at Finlandia University, Operations Manager at Fortune 500 Company Cummins Engine and Sales Director for local technology company Consistacom, at which she closed deals on the upwards of $1 million. Marilyn also consulted with local companies Talon Research, IR Telemetrics and Midwest Loan Services, Inc.
