As a child and teenager, Keith Glendon roamed the forests, fished the streams and played in the waters of the UP, a Marquette native from infancy. He spent time in Germany in the US Army as a young adult before returning to his native ‘North Coast’ to graduate from Northern Michigan University with a bachelor’s degree in Business and Computer Information Systems. During his time at NMU he worked as a contractor to a local start-up computer consulting firm through whom he supported Northern Initiatives, taught continuing education classes at NMU and developed web-based solutions for local small businesses. On graduation, he joined IBM – in part because of the lack of opportunity in the Marquette area for significant income and employment. Over the next 15 years Mr. Glendon developed his professional career as a consultant to global and F100 businesses, a solutions architect in e-business and autonomic computing, a Managing Principal in Technology Strategy, a Geography leader living and working in Asia-Pacific and numerous global management and leadership positions with IBM and France Telecom / Orange. In 2010 he returned to Marquette to raise his daughters to roam the forests, fish the streams, play in the waters and be a part of his native community. Since his return to Marquette, Mr. Glendon has become a trustee of the Marquette Area Public School Board, founded CoderDojo906 – a partnership with NMU to bring technology education to the area’s youth, launched an IBM-NMU alliance to develop and hire NMU cybersecurity students and been an active voice of advocacy at the local and state level for the development of “new economy” opportunities for our children and our region. A father of 4, Mr. Glendon passionately believes in a vision of a technology-led Marquette economy enabling the children of the UP to build vibrant careers and lives – right here at home.
