Scott A. Wolfson is a native of Marquette County, raised in Ishpeming Township, and is a 1988 graduate of Westwood High School.

He is an attorney at Wolfson Bolton Kochis PLLC (www.wolfsonbolton.com) in metropolitan Detroit, where he restructures distressed companies in and out of court, represents clients whose customers or suppliers are financially troubled, and litigates a broad range of commercial disputes.  Earlier this month, he completed his Chapter 11 bankruptcy representation of Tier 1 automotive suppliers with approximately $150m in annual sales, Gissing North America and its seven affiliated companies, which resulted in successful going concern sales.   He currently serves as the Liquidating Trustee of the entities who previously owned the Midland-area dams that breached in 2020 and is a member of the American Arbitration Association’s National Roster of Commercial Arbitrators.

Wolfson obtained his B.A. from Michigan State University’s James Madison College with High Honors, and as a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Mortar Board.  He earned his J.D. from the University of Minnesota Law School Cum Laude where he served as Managing Editor of the Law and Inequality Journal.  He began his career in Marquette at the law firm currently known as Kendricks, Bordeau, Keefe, Seavoy & Reilly, P.C., leaving in 1997 to join Honigman, where he became an equity partner, and founded Wolfson Bolton Kochis PLLC in 2009, a boutique business firm focused on restructuring, mergers and acquisitions, and litigation.  His firm opened an office in Marquette in 2019 under the name 906 Bankruptcy to represent individuals in need of debt relief.
