Matt Kabat is a Project Engineer with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Detroit District.
He currently works as part of the Integrated Project Office (IPO) for the New Lock at the
Soo project in Sault Sainte Marie, Michigan.
Matt came to the Corps of Engineers in 2020 after fifteen years as a wireline engineer in
the Oil and Gas Industry. His experience includes international and domestic blasting
and geology identification. Matt started with the Corps of Engineers as a Construction
Control Representative on the Quality Assurance team. There he was responsible for
safety, concrete quality, and quality control oversight. Matt has a Master of Business
Administration (MBA) from Central Michigan University and a Bachelor of Science (BS)
degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology from Michigan Technological University.
