John Nevin was appointed Strategic Policy Advisor to the U.S. Section of the International Joint Commission of the U.S. and Canada (IJC) by the President in November of 2002.  Created by the Boundary Waters Treaty of 1909, the IJC prevents and resolves transboundary water disputes between the two nations.  In August 2010, he was named Public Affairs Advisor in the IJC’s Great Lakes Regional Office. Nevin has also served as communications adviser to the International Upper Great Lakes Study, an expert task force that recently recommended a new regulation plan for Lake Superior outflows and provided state-of-the-art climate research and analysis of potential impacts on water levels. He has also served as an elected county commissioner and on the executive staff for Michigan’s governor.  Mr. Nevin has a bachelor’s degree in economics from Harvard College and an MBA from the University of Chicago Graduate School Of Business.
