Aaron Popkey is director of public affairs for the Green Bay Packers. Enjoying his 21st season with the organization, he serves as the primary liaison with local and state government and civic officials, and also oversees external communications for all non-football departments, including Lambeau Field, the Packers Hall of Fame, marketing, community outreach, special events and tickets. His responsibilities also include assisting with the club’s media relations efforts involving the football team. Through the course of his career, Popkey has been involved in many of the organization’s major events of the past 20 years, including appearances in Super Bowls XXXI, XXXII and XLV, and the redevelopment of Lambeau Field in 2003 and current development projects. On an individual level, he coordinated the media schedule of three-time NFL MVP Brett Favre from 1999-2005 and, prior to that, handled interview requests for the late Reggie White. The Green Bay native began his career with the Packers in 1993 as an intern in the P.R. department and later served as an assistant before being promoted. From 1999 through 2003, he also coordinated team travel. He earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1994 and is a member of the Public Relations Society of America. In 2005, he received the Ralph Nafziger Award from the UW-Madison School of Journalism & Mass Communication for distinguished achievement within 10 years of graduation. In the community, he serves on the board of directors for the Bellin Health Foundation (chairman), Green Bay Marathon, Green Bay Chamber of Commerce, Advance and Live54218, and previously served on the Brett Favre Fourward Foundation. He is married to Jennifer Lynch, a Green Bay ear, nose and throat physician. The couple has three children. Away from work, he enjoys competing in endurance events, skiing and spending time with his family.
